Chimney Cake (KÜRTŐSKALÁCS, Kürtos Kalacs, Cozonac Secuiesc) – part 2

Here is a follow up on a previous post we had on this delicious bakery delight – Chimney Cake (KÜRTŐSKALÁCS, Kürtos Kalacs, Cozonac Secuiesc). As promissed I’m coming back with a recipe that can be used to bake the Kürtos Kalacs in the oven.

Ingredients:

  • 30 g yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups (800 ml) milk
  • 2 1/4 lbs (1kg) flour
  • 1 egg and 3 egg yolks
  • 5 tbsp confectioners’ sugar
  • 6 1/2 tbsp (100 g) butter

Toppings: For decorating you can either use honey sugar, walnuts, cocoa or a combination of these. Before sprinkling brush the cake with a beaten egg.

To make the dough you mix all the ingredients together and let it rise for about 1h.

Cut the dough in few pieces which you roll out and wrap it around a small metal pipe.

Brush teh surface with a beaten egg and sprinkle the desired decorations.

Bake it for 15 minutes

Serve warm

Enjoy!
