Cheese Balls (Crochete de cascaval)

Great appetizer! you definitely need to try this for your next party and you can make it the day before and just warm up before serving.

Ingredients (about 25 cheese balls):

  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 tbsp margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 oz shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • oil for frying


  • boil the milk and the margarine
  • use a whisk and add the flour while the pot is stillĀ over the heat; keep stirring until the composition separates from the walls of the pot
  • remove from stove and add the eggs
  • mix everything together and let it cool
  • add the cheese
  • with a little flour you can shape the balls
  • in a large skillet heat about 1 inch of oil and fry the cheese balls until golden brown, make sure you constantly turn them so they don’t burn

You can serve warm with marinara sauce or with a yogurt sauce.
