We normally did not have Hot Cross Buns for Good Friday in Romania. In fact, Good Friday would normally be a fasting day in preparation for Easter. However, my kids are born in the US and, even though we go by the Orthodox calendar, they want to celebrate everything so here we are making Hot Cross Buns.
I make most of the bread we eat in our home and we really enjoy it. If you want fresh bread in the morning you can try the No-Knead Dutch Oven Bread I posted a while back as you get everything ready in the evening and you just need to warm up the oven and let it bake in the morning. The below is a recipe that will take you about 2 -2.5 hours from start to finish, I usually make it during the weekend and it lasts our family of 5 for a couple days.
Friday night is Pizza night in our house.
My kids love rolling the dough and crafting their own pizza. It gets a little messy with all the flour and cheese covering the countertops but they seem to enjoy it so I patiently wait until they are done and make sure to add a little more cheese for them before popping the pizza in the oven.
This year is flying by, it’s almost time for Christmas Cookies so I thought I’d test this recipe a little earlier and make some Halloween Coconut Cookies.
This Bread is crusty on the outside with a soft and delicious inside. The ingredients and recipe is not very different from a traditional bread recipe however the way it’s baked in a covered dutch oven is what gives it the beautiful looks and the crusty texture.
We always have bananas in our household, it’s a great snack and my kids love them until they start getting the brown spots and nobody wants to eat them after. This Blueberry Banana recipe is a quick and delicious way to use those overripe bananas. The blueberries will add a sour touch to the sweetness of the banana bread but if you don’t have any on hand you can substitute with walnuts / cranberry / raisins or just use plain bananas.
Another great dessert for the season. Really easy to make and the kids enjoyed having this snack at school.
Fall is approaching so here is the perfect recipe for the apple picking season.
For about two years I started making bread. I went through different recipes and always had to adjust quantities when changing the flour. However, the recipe below got to be my go to recipe for bread and pizza crust. Continue reading “Homemade Bread and Pizza Crust”
